Lululemon - Yoga Pants Fit for All?

Lululemon Athletica is a name you might be familiar with if you practice yoga. The Canadian company burst into the scene of athletic wear in 1998, targeting high-end yoga wear. Their first store in Vancouver included a yoga studio and a design center. The company went public in 2007, and today has 201 stores and many sub-lines, one of them for girls. Its revenue for 2012 was $1 billion.

The philosophy of the founder, Chip Wilson, includes quality, product, integrity, balance, entrepreneurship, greatness and fun. And these principles, which employees have to articulate and embody, allowed the company to charge high prices; from $82 to $118 for a pair of yoga pants.

Gun Violence in PG-13 movies

A recent research published in Pediatrics, the official journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, raised concerns in Hollywood.

The research, which asserts that the mere existence of a gun increases aggression, was aimed to find the source of that existence in top-selling movies.

What They Found

-The violence in films in general has more than doubled since 1950.

-Gun Violence in PG-13 rated movies has tripled since 1985 when this rating was introduced. Before that, PG-13 movies contained about as much violence as those that are currently rated G and PG.

-Since 2009, PG-13 movies have surpassed the violence in R-rated movies.

Words Your Customers Don’t Want to Hear

Words Your Customers Don’t Want to Hear

Remember the childhood rhyme “Sticks and stones will break my bones but words would never harm me”? It’s wrong. Words matter.

Together with facial expressions and body language, words are a means of inter-personal communication. But words become much more important when the visual aspect is taken away. Then you are measured only by the words you say or write. While it’s easier to say “no” on the phone, and even easier to write it, you have to remember that writing it will make it stay there for a long time.

Here are some words that make the customers skin crawl:

“It’s our Policy”

What you’re actually saying is that you treat everyone the same way, without taking into account any difference in circumstances. If you want to give customers the feeling that they’re special and your treatment personal, please don’t use those words. Have them erased from your (and your sales forces’) vocabulary. Sometimes, giving a customer a break will lead to better business.

How to Lower Your Bills

It may seem like there’s nothing you can do about the rising prices on your monthly bills. However, if you are willing to take some time and do the research, you might find some hidden savings you weren’t aware of. Many people miss out because they don’t know what to do or think it’s too complicated. Here’s a breakdown of how you can look for savings on almost any monthly bill.

Keep Records

The first thing you must do is keep a record of what you’re currently spending on your monthly bills. The best way to do this is to retain the statements that you get each month, even after you’ve paid the bill. This will show you how much you paid and what services were included.

The Profile of the Average Twitter User

Twitter (TWTR) has made a big name for itself in the world of social media. This is despite the fact that Twitter has only been adopted by a small percentage of users in comparison to Facebook.

Twitter Versus Facebook

According to a comparison of the two sites, Facebook currently has more than one billion users, whereas Twitter has about 200 million active users. Despite the fact that it has only a fraction of the users that Facebook has, Twitter now plays a huge role in culture and the media.

The adoption of the #hashtag by television programs and news outlets has only increased its role, as users rely on Twitter as a second or even third screen while watching television or other media. Additionally, many users rely on Twitter as a primary news source. So just who is the average Twitter user?

Natural Remedies for the Cold and Flu Season

Winter is the prime time for getting sick. As the weather gets colder, people stay inside more, increasing the probability for picking up a cold or the flu. While there is no cure for these illnesses, there are ways to find comfort and relief without going to the medicine cabinet.

Good Nutrition

It is important to give the body a fighting chance to fend off a cold by providing it all the vitamins and minerals it needs. Eating a balanced diet when healthy can help prevent getting sick, but once illness has set in, maintaining that diet is even more essential. It is also important to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.

Chicken soup is the quintessential home remedy for common cold, and for good reason. Sipping the warm liquid will soothe a sore throat and prevent dehydration, and the rising steam can help relieve nasal congestion. Also, researchers have shown that chicken soup has anti-inflammatory properties.

Charities That Pick Up Your Discards

The idiom “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” hasn’t been more accurate in many, many years.

With so many Americans still scrapping to get by, every little bit counts. When you can get a refurbished mattress for your growing child for a fraction of the price of a new one, and when you can buy used furniture and appliances to fill a new space, those old things may well be considered new and great to some.

Before you throw things away, consider donating them to charity. They will come and pick up your discards and thank you for them.

New entrepreneurs typically have a steep learning curve and face many challenges as they chart the course of their brand. Here are five tips for new entrepreneurs.

Structure Your Business

It is important for any business to start off right by creating the proper legal structure. The first question to consider is whether to operate as a corporate entity or a sole proprietorship. A sole proprietorship has its benefits. For instance, it costs no money to operate due to the fact that you don’t have to pay to create corporate documents. When you start a business, you automatically start out as a sole proprietorship. However, setting up a corporation can provide you with some legal protections that aren’t available to a sole proprietor.
